OAU was established on 25th May in 1963. The representatives of 30 countries, newly independent, put an agreement of establishment under their signatures in a meeting held in Addis Abeba. Now OAU has 50 member countries. According to Sub-Section 1, Section 11 of the Charter, the aims of OAU are to promote unification and solidarity among African countries, to maintain the tight relationship of mutual cooperation as to efforts for improvement of African people's lives, to secure sovereignty, integration of the regions and independence, to eradicate all forms of colonialism and to improve the international mutual cooperative relationship, respecting UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The cooperation among the member countries are required to attain its goals. These following spheres are particularly focused on, according to Sub-Section 2, Section 2 of the Charter.
