The difference is that the various rights included in the European Convention can make an objection and individuals appear in it like any other existing conventions. The right which each individual can institute a lawsuit to several Human rights committee after taking proceedings of objections is secured in the Convention; besides, victims can ask compensation for the harm. However, the Convention is still incomplete because individuals can not appeal to the European Court directly. Only the countries that entered into an agreement with European Human rights Committee can get the right of appeal. These countries can make an application for examining the violation of human rights happened in their own countries.

European Convention has been continuously developing after the year 1953 and a new category, called the human rights in economic and social aspects, was introduced through the European Social Charter. However, it wasn't guaranteed yet in the same way of the civil and political rights.
