Since Columbus first landed in the Caribbean area in 1492, contacts between Indians and Europeans became more frequent. By around 1650, their relationship developed into a constant one in many areas of the east and the south, which are now territories of the United States. This marked the beginning of a colonial period on the American continent.
Europeans established colonies in almost every corner of the western hemisphere. The establishment of a colony not only claimed the lives of countless native Americans, either directly or indirectly, but also led to the property loss of many more people. However, the process of colonization was not carried out in an unilateral way. The dynamic processes that determined the attitudes and actions of American natives towards the Europeans and the history of the European immigrants which was affected by the native Americans' reactions to them combined to charter a historical path.
